India Awaits has devised this 12 days tour to show you some jewels of places in the lap of the eastern Himalayas. On this tour, you will visit Kolkata, Guwahati, Kaziranga, Darjeeling, Pelling, and Gangtok. These beautiful cities and towns are in 3 Indian states - West Bengal, Assam, and Sikkim.
The expedition begins in Kolkatta, one of the oldest Indian cities. Situated on the banks of the Hooghly River, Kolkatta has a diverse cultural milieu. The major attractions here include grand colonial buildings and lavish parks. Our guided tour will take you to Victoria Memorial and Raj Bhawan. Other notable places include Howrah Bridge, Eden Gardens, and Kalighat Temple. The blend of modernity and tradition here is as interesting as it can get. People here are passionate and skillful. In the evening head to a theatre, comedy, or music show. Kolkatta also has, hands down, the best street food in India.
From the lanes of culture, you move to the lap of nature. Assam’s Kaziranga National Park is in UNESCO’s world heritage site list. It houses the famous Indian one-horned rhinos. On an elephant safari, you can spot the exotic Royal Bengal Tiger and species of water buffalo. Your visit to Darheeling will uncover some captivating sights for you. You will be here to witness the magical sunrise from the tiger hill. One has to consider a ride on the hill toy train as well. The scenic views of the local tea plantation come with tasting the ultimate beverage.
The captivating scenes continue as we drive to Sikkim. Surrounded by Nepal, Bhutan, and China, Sikkim is the cleanest state in India. It is also famous for its 100% organic farming practice. On a trip to Sikkim, we will be covering Pelling and Gangtok. Pelling has an iconic glass pathway called Skywalk. The capital Gangtok offers some lively destinations. You can visit Changu Lake, Tashi Viewpoint, Hanuman Tok, and beautiful Buddhist monasteries.

Kolkata is the capital city of the Indian state of West Bengal. It has been settled on the banks of the Hooghly River. Being a metropolis, Kolkata possesses an interesting history and a passionate cultural heritage. Once it was the capital of India under the British Raj from 1773 to 1911. You'll like colonial architecture, art galleries, and cultural events.

After breakfast, you are set for the sightseeing tour of Kolkata. The tour will cover the Victoria Memorial, Raj Bhawan, Howrah Bridge, and the Eden Gardens. You can also pay a visit to the historic Kalighat temple.

After breakfast at the hotel, we catch a flight to Guwahati from the Kolkata airport. From Guwahati, we leave for the Kaziranga National Park. Here, your stay is set at a wildlife resort. The place will be quite exciting especially if you enjoy living in nature.
Kaziranga National Park is a UNESCO-recognized World Heritage Site. UNESCO describes it as one of the finest wildlife refuges. It is home to the one-horned Indian rhinoceros, the Royal Bengal Tiger, Elephant, Wild Water Buffalo, and Swamp Deer.

You will go on an elephant safari, early in the morning. You might get to see some exotic animals in the national park. Then, come back to the hotel for your breakfast. Afterward, enjoy a jeep safari to discover more of Kaziranga.

Return to Guwahati and catch a flight to Bagdogra. Upon arrival, check into the hotel. Enjoy your leisure time at the hotel premises.

Early morning visit to Tiger Hill where you will enjoy a beautiful sunrise. Come back to the hotel for breakfast and afterwards head to the sightseeing tour of Darjeeling. The tour begins with a ride on the Toy Train. Then we take you to the renowned Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. It is closed on Thursdays.
We also visit the tea estates and you get to taste the exquisite Darjeeling tea. It has been anointed as the 'champagne' of teas. Explore the Tibetan Refugee Centre, Batasia Loop, and admire more Tea Estates. Discover the serenity of the Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda. Return to your hotel after a hectic day of stunning experiences.

Breakfast will be at the hotel. And you head to the hill town Pelling in the Sikkim state of India. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel. There will be time to relax for a while and prepare for a sightseeing tour of Pelling. You will love the Rambi Waterfalls, Khechiapalri Lake, and the Pelling Sky Walk. The Darap village tour is also an important attraction in your trip. Later return to the hotel. Overnight stay in Pelling.
